I am giggling... I spent a lot of time windsurfing, surfing 56 foot waves, backpacking scuba, sail, water skiing, snow skiing in my off time and worked hard the rest of the time. I dug into why and mt answer as its so easy to get answers was that the one thing that was common ( yeah I had a mess of a child hood but this was not an escape from pain) it was the incredible healing from being in the elements. Maybe my last dance on earth.
To really ground in the lower chakras one has to heal any cell memory of trauma infection and so on which is easy to do individual by holding your hand at the levels or abdomen both sides and always release first any negative energy into water or fire or the earth then fill that void with loving energy and ask each cell to waken and come alive again. thank the cells for their patience. This is in the south earth position then move to the west and ask the water energy to wash over you and take any lingering thoughts feelings senses touch the water as it touches you as you are 98% water anyway, Then move to the North Let the wind touch you and awaken you to live in today what is with guidance and vision clearly then move to the east and ask the fire to open your heart and reignite the love for the human beings around you to forgive those that hurt and let them go if it is time and ask for the people to come to you who are your spiritual family. Then draw in to the center and ask for the light of the creator / higher self to flood your body with white light which really is a flood of the colours of the rainbow think spectrum and the natural white light Will heal at al levels and the rays of colour will match what you need. ie if too loving the green will be first light green and if you need to be more loving a wonderful rich emerald green. Then let that radiate deep into the earth as your moving energy through your body so you do not loose life force energy see it arch back up cleansed by the depth of mother earth and let it wash over you in contact with your essence. When I do this I am totally grounded. I also focus not just on my spiritual life but that of the humans around me. One reason that we like to stay in spirit is because some humans are not evolved and that is their time on earth so being supportive of them .. we can do that,,, its hard to tell a wounded person to heal up or man up which ever but there is a time to cry and time to feel anger but express it with sacred breath rather then acting it out...pain keeps us separate...touch heal take care of then ground and go about the earth... Home was so different to here as I gaze into the stars... more love more wind... but here we are so make a point of getting use to it. Humbly cc emainc

Hi Anna - your article really hit the nail on the head for me.
I have always been more attuned to the spiritual/creative and have almost a hatred of my physical body and all the palaver of looking after it. I have always had trouble eating, almost never have an apetite, and you can imagine the havoc this has played with just feeling well enough to function. I have almost no ability at all to make money - and, although I have clearly defined goals, I never seem to be on an even keel long enough to realise my potential. Your article has given me a starting point toward grounding myself. (Lord, I must be floating somewhere in the stratosphere at the moment!) All the things you mention are so hard for me to do, and I always dismissed such 'earthly' concerns as being unimportant. It won't be easy, making friends with this 'animal' I'm stuck inside of, but the least I can do is give the poor critter a face pack and a few half-decent clothes! Baby steps :)

Anna,

I didn't see your reply until tonight. Thank you for your heartfelt words of encouragement. I appreciate your empathy. Right now, I am fortunate to have my in-laws nearby who have much less drama in their lives. Thanks for taking the time to write back.

Melody,

I'm also grateful for your words. I know my dad is working through something, but it's hard to accept the way he's chosen to go about it. I guess I'll keep looking for what I can learn from this as well.

All the best, to both of you.

Hello Anna,
Thank you for your article. I feel my boyfriend is a spiritual addiction. He has paid lots of money to those spiritual people and caused him into big debts. I didnt think those spiritual people have helped him. I really like to help him. You are right. They need to go through the process on their own and to learn the lessons by themselves.

Anna,

So great to have a list of things we can do about our spiritual imbalance!

Many of these are things that I have been craving and unable to do because I was backpacking for so long.. But, as you said, you finally get to the point where you cannot escape it anymore and I reached mine. I needed to go back to having a home, a routine, cooking, exercise, non-spiritual activities with less spiritual friends... So I finally decided to cut my traveling short and come back home. There was no point to it anymore because I couldn't fully appreciate it.

Much much thanks for helping me trust my intuition a bit more!

@ Dan - I've also had some experience with people with addictions and, Anna is are absolutely right that it's a process they have to go through and come out on their own. We can only support the person (in a wise and loving way!) while they go through it.

Hi Dan,

Wanted to reply to your comment as I felt for you and what you're going through with your dad. As someone who has been totally into the spiritual stuff (and enjoyed it a little too much), I can tell you that being out of balance can be a great learning experience. It teaches you a lot and I'm sure that your dad is learning something here. Even if it is very disruptive to you and your family.

I know people, close to me, who are going through addictions (won't elaborate here as it wouldn't be fair on them) and I have to say one thing I have learned about addictions is, you can't make something come back into balance again. They have to learn it for themselves...
