Psychic But Sane – New Website Design and Name

If you have visited this website before, you’ll probably notice that it’s got a totally different look and name than it had before.

It’s gone from healingandinsight.com to psychicbutsane.com.

Why the new name and design?

A few months ago, I realized that I didn’t like my design anymore.  It was a website that a friend had set up for me two years ago, and I’d never been totally happy with the picture on the banner either.  I’d outgrown the way it looked.

At the same time, I began to stop telling people what I do for a living when I met them.  It’s easier that way.

Having a profession like mine is sometimes hard in this respect, because sceptical people assume that you’re off with the fairies or really stupid or insane. I’ve been called crazy.  I’ve been told that for a well-educated person, I’m pretty stupid and should know better. I thought: if I am tired of being stereotyped and judged in a certain way for what I do, so much so that I keep my work a secret from people these days (when I first meet them), then what about people who are just getting into psychic development?

The easiest thing to do when you begin to get interested in a subject that the rest of the population might judge you for, is to withdraw from those that are judgmental.  Or hide that part of you.  Or spend so much time around like-minded people that you no longer hang around with people who are not like you, and aren’t spiritual.

That way, you don’t feel crazy.

I used to withdraw, hide and avoid people who wanted to give me a religious lecture on why God doesn’t approve of me.

To some extent, I guess I still do those things, when I don’t tell people I meet what I do for a living.

But whether or not I shout about being a professional psychic offline to people like my parents’ friends, my co-workers or strangers – I’m still going to be here and say on the internet (with my real name and my real picture):

Psychics are not insane.

They are normal people.

Their experiences are real.

Psychic experiences are not supernatural – they’re super natural :D

Psychics, sensitives and empaths are people who have been around since the beginning of time.  People who were born that way and people who learned to become that way.  People outside of religion and people with a religion.  In some civilizations, they were oracles.  In some they were revered and in some they were burnt as witches.

They are still psychics, sensitives and empaths.  People who are in tune with the rest of humanity on a deeper level, people who can’t forget about other peoples’ suffering because it’s their suffering too, people who can feel it in their bodies when some major geographical event is about to occur, people who can bring a level of clarity to other people that helps move others forward on their path. The world needs people like that.

And these days, these souls don’t live in monasteries or oracles high up on a mountain.  They’re often people with families and non-spiritual work who wonder why they are so sensitive and whether they’re crazy because they perceive things that other people don’t.

And sometimes they’re afraid to talk about it, can’t tell anyone and start looking on the internet. I get emails from those people.

Psychics may not be persecuted minorities on the same scale as certain other groups.  But psychics are still being executed for witchcraft in places like the Middle East (more recently, I found out about one in Saudi Arabia who was arrested by the religious police there.)  As my friend Kate pointed out to me tonight, witch trials and persecution is deep in the soul’s memory. Without wanting to sound dramatic, it’s in mine.  And in spite of that, welcome to my new website :D

Things That Are Different

You’ll notice that there is a new free resources page where you can subscribe to this blog and get access to free resources at the same time.

There’s also a new Facebook page.  If you were on the old Facebook page and you’d like to be a fan of the new one, then you can visit it here.

Thank you to Taryn Wallis at Phenomenoodle for doing the design and creating this site.  If you need some help with WordPress or want a customized site, I highly recommend her – she’s a fantastic all round tech-y person/website designer, a lovely person and such a pleasure to work with.

In terms of the site design and direction, I am really pleased with it.

I like it! Puts more focus on your new direction. Fancy but clean design.

Is it OK if one is intuitive but also just a little bit nuts? :)

  2. Peter says:

Congratulations and good luck for your new site! :)

  3. Kate says:

I think it looks awesome. It feels like its taking up more room than your last site. Way more visual.
And thanks so much for your link :) Youve put so much work into this site!!!

  4. elizabeth says:

kate posted a link to you site on fb. this is a lovely site and for once treating the psychic way of life in a matter of fact straight forward way. thank you for that,

  5. Anna says:

    Thank you Kate and Peter.

Michael – I’m afraid on this website from now on, no nutters :D

Hi Elizabeth – welcome! Thanks for visiting and for your comment :)

  6. Darla says:

Felicdades Anna! the website look great and I like the focus. Well done!

  7. Ferlin says:

It looks really good! Especially loving the title’s font. Good work, both of you.

  8. B.Traveller says:

As I said over on the SP forum, I really love the name.

And as a side-benefit, you can kill two birds with one stone now (metaphorically, of course) by telling people you’re the creator of PsychicButSane.com. In a single sentence they learn you’re a psychic and a writer.

    Just a thought. ;)

Tangentially, isn’t it wonderful that we live in a time where the clair-anything-ant (gifted) aren’t persecuted (at least in most parts of the world) and instead have the ability to use things like Vonage and blogging platforms to reach a much wider client-base than before?

It’s pretty extraordinary if you think about it.

  9. Anna says:

    Thanks Darla!

Ferlin – thank you. I like the font too :)

Traveller – Thank you for the feedback and thoughts! And yes, you are so right. It is not only great that psychics are not persecuted, but it’s also great that the internet allows you to reach more people. I guess that’s true of any field.

  10. Keith Handy says:

Looks great… for some reason, though, Google Reader is still showing the title as “Extra Sensory Perception – Intuitive and Spiritual Development Blog”.

  11. Anna says:

Hi Keith! Thanks for letting me know. We did have some problems with the RSS feed after I launched the new site. But it should be fixed now :)

  12. Kara says:

Thank God you exist Anna! The name really does sum up the perception that it is not possible for a person be rational and intuitive at the same time.

I’m just preparing a post where I am going to attempt to “officially” come out of the psychic closet…sigh…can you tell, I’m not quite there yet? I will likely be quoting/tracking back this post in my post.

While I am still gathering my courage, perhaps sometime you could post about how it was for you to “come out of the psychic closet”, to help those of us still trying to integrate all the pieces of ourselves.

P.S. I know what you mean about those witch trials and persecution…unfortunately…

  13. Anna says:

    Hi there Kara,

    Thanks for commenting!

Hehe I am glad to be existing too :D

You got me thinking about that question of coming out of the psychic closet. I am not out of it 100% and I’m not sure I ever want to be totally ‘out’ for all to see. I may write a post about that soon. Thanks for sparking the inspiration.

  14. I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
